+ Negotiates purchases of required materials and supplies.

+ Utilizes an ERP/MRP system to review material requirements and inventory on hand. Maintains efficient levels of stock and material coverage for job requirements while optimizing inventory levels.

+ Expedites and tracks purchase orders with suppliers to ensure on time deliveries.

+ Evaluates and qualifies suppliers.

+ Establishes VMI programs while leveraging purchasing power.

+ RFQ commodities on a regular basis.

+ Identifies, evaluates and recommends ideas for cost reductions and process improvements.

+ Manages rejected materials with suppliers and quality control.

+ Maintains total cost of ownership through supplier terms and conditions, including decisions with logistics.

+ Works within a team environment to coordinate projects/materials between departments.

+ Gains thorough knowledge of commodities.

+ Self-motivated to follow an issue from start to resolution.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.


+ 5+ years in purchasing preferably in a manufacturing environment; 1 year steel buying experience preferred. Experience with off-shoring helpful.

+ Demonstrated experience in managing procurement initiatives and purchasing in a high-paced manufacturing environment.

+ The ability to form internal and external alliances to achieve the company's goals.

+ The ability to negotiate and build relationships with suppliers.

+ Self-motived with strong organizational skills; high level of attention to detail; professional English verbal and written communication skills; effective negotiation skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; experience with an ERP/MRP system (Epicor a plus).

+ Position is in an office environment and will require working on a computer most of the day.

+ Regularly required to use hands to work on the computer, finger, handle or grasp, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Educational Requirements:

+ Minimum of a BS degree in Business or related field.


+ Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, Overtime and Weekends as needed
